This song really does take me back. 1993! Cor! Still sounds as great as ever and i don't know if i will ever tire of this track. You have to listen to the Original Mix to get the extra verse and the full effect.
It's fucking shocking that Melanie Williams never soared high in the charts as a solo artist. She has a fabulous voice and her lyric writing is top notch! Typical of any artist i love - no other bugger gives a shit! Dammit!
I hope you all enjoy this orgasmic dance track which must be one of the top 20 dance tracks of the 90's!

I totally agree with you re: Melanie Williams. She was so terribly unlucky not to become huge. Her voice is unique, soulful-yet-quirky, and full of elan. All of her singles featured mixes with zany ad-libbing + she was an extremely versatile artist: moving from pop-house to soulful rnb in an instant.
ReplyDeleteWilliams did, in fact, have 2 further UK Top 40 singles after the huge 'Ain't No Love' with Sub Sub. 1994's classy pop-dance groover, 'Everyday Thang'', and 1995's soulful rnb classic rendition of 'You Are Everything' (with Joe Roberts). Additionally, a superb soul-dance single, 'All Cried Out!' surfaced, and a fantastic Lena Fiagbe sounding humanitarian soul ballad, 'Not Enough?'. All were qualitatively top-knotch + were lifted from Melanie's LP, 'Human Cradle', which I can't recommend more. I also recommend her ealier work, as Temper Temper. You're sure to enjoy 'It's All Outta Lovin' You', a camp dance-house eccentric track.
I shall look up those other tracks! I think i have Everyday Thang on cd somewhere too!
